Sabbath Day πŸ˜‡πŸ˜΄

Did Jesus break the Sabbath?

August 2, 2021 β€’ Michael Ray Garvin β€’ Isaiah 56:2–7, Exodus 31:13–17, Exodus 20:8–11, Isaiah 58:13–14, Jeremiah 17:19–27

In this video we will talk about the Sabbath Day. Sabbath means "rest" and on the seventh day God rested from His work and blessed that day (Genesis 2:3). In the Old Testament, we see that there are blessings attached to keeping the Sabbath Day and honoring it. In the New Testament, we see the confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees on the Sabbath. The Pharisees falsely accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath. They were accusing Jesus of committing sin. Jesus never sinned and He never broke the Sabbath. Jesus explains that, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." He also explains that the works He was doing was lawful and allowable on the Sabbath Day (Matthew 12:12). Jesus was sinless and to say that He broke a commandment of God would be accusing Jesus of transgressing the Law. Jesus who is Lord, honored the Sabbath and was doing the works of God which is lawful. There is a difference between "common work" and "work of the Lord" (John 6:27). I have made a choice to not do common work on the Sabbath Day which is Saturday. I can do the works of God on the Sabbath Day. No man can change the Sabbath Day. It is the 7th day of the week, the day that God blessed and set apart. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. God bless!

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Acts 13:42 KJV

12 And from there [we came] to Philippi, which is the chief city of the district of Macedonia and a [Roman] colony. We stayed on in this place some days;
13 And on the Sabbath day we went outside the [city’s] gate to the bank of the river where we supposed there was an [accustomed] place of prayer, and we sat down and addressed the women who had assembled there.
14 One of those who listened to us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a dealer in fabrics dyed in purple. She was [already] a worshiper of God, and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.

Many Christians are on injured reserve and aren't doing the word of God because they are offended. Jesus tells us that offense will come and how to handle it.
