Our home missionaries to Guyana

Latest prayer letter (March 2024):

Dear Pastor, Church Family and Friends,

In the beginning of this year, I found out that I had a stroke. I had a terrible headache that would not go away. I went to the emergency room at the hospital where they did a CT scan showing that I indeed had a stroke. I tried to see the only neurologist in the country. It was a weekend, and he would not see me until later into the next week. My family and I decided to go to São Paulo, Brazil, to seek further help. We heard about the Albert Einstein Hospital there that is listed as one of the top hospitals in the entire world. Mostly, we chose to there because our medical insurance in the US partners with a Brazilian health insurance company and covers 100% of the cost if we choose to go outside the US for treatment. The South American director for our mission board, Sean Luday, and his wife, live in São Paulo, not far from the hospital. They invited us to come and use their apartment as a base to do our medical concerns.

What was to be just an overnight stay at the hospital, with a stent put into my left carotid artery, turned into a two week stay at the hospital. Complications followed after the stent was placed. The stent got blocked and I was rushed from the recovery room back to the operation room. Praise the Lord for the expert team of doctors and technicians at the hospital who quickly saw the problem. However, in the meanwhile, I lost blood flow to the brain and could have suffered major brain damage or even death. Physical therapy was needed after the medical procedure. My family and I ended up spending one month and eleven days in Brazil.

Thank you, Brother and mRs. Sunday, for helping in so many ways. Thank you to so many who prayed for me during some critical days in the hospital. I know this, God is a good God. He answers prayer. He is to be praised. He is worthy. He is to be worshipped. He is merciful. He loves, forgives and heals. He is a present in trouble.

Our people in Guyana did a fabulous job in my absence. Some of our men filled the pulpit. Even our teens stepped up and helped in Sunday schools and bus routes. Everyone in the church was overjoyed to see us back in Guyana. We have a tremendous group of people here. Many of the ladies brought meals for us several days after we got back.

From January through February the church had 51 saved and 4 baptized. Nothing makes me happier than to see people going after the lost and winning them to Christ. While in Brazil, my wife and I were able to lead my physical therapist to the Lord. That was a special moment. Thank you for your care, prayers, and love for us. Please continue to pray for my full recovery.
