Christmas "Challah" Bread

December 4 - 18, 2022

This year during the Christmas season, New Hope will be providing all of our first time guests a special Christmas Bread. During the advent season, we will all sing "O Little Town of Bethlehem" as we celebrate our Savior's birth. Bethlehem means "city of bread" in Hebrew, and how symbolically did Jesus say in the Gospel of John "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger." He who was born in the city of bread would be the bread of life to all who would believe in Him. How inspiring! "But you, O Bethlehem, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose going forths are from of old, from everlasting." - Micah 5:2 Through the baking and giving of bread we believe the Lord will open up specific opportunities to share the love of Christ with our guests here at New Hope. We will be baking Challah Bread, a braided Jewish bread, with a simple recipe that you can easily do at home. Want to help us bake for guests? If you are interested in sharing the bread of life through this special gift to our guests this Christmas, sign-up below! If baking for the masses isn't your thing, we still invite you to try out this simple recipe and share this special loaf with your family or friends. Maybe it will become a new tradition and make for an easy introduction to the Bread of Life.
