We have seen God miraculously deliver His people from Egypt for a particular purpose and now we will see God respond with his law and HIs presence as a means for how to live as free servants of the One true God in the midst of the wilderness. If the first 18 chapters were God delivering His people out of Egypt these next chapters will be an invitation to see God get the Egypt out of them.

We see a familiar passage of scripture in the charge, “Choose you this day whom you will serve!” but when considered in context we see the faithfulness of God recounted and the reasonable choice made, but we also see the necessary help of the better Joshua, Jesus Christ in helping us do what we say we will do.
