Fruit: Joy

September 15, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

This message is the second installment of the "Fruit" series. We are going through Galatians 5:22-23 and talking about each fruit of the spirit.

Brian talked about how joy comes from within us where as happiness comes from circumstances. It's what Jesus produces in us if we let him. And the opposite of joy is resentment. It's a feeling and a mindset we can develop if we aren't growing in our relationship with God.

More from Fruit

Remain

The thing about the fruit Jesus wants to produce in us…EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM YOUR FRUIT. * Can you imagine what our world would look like right now if people were more loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled? * It all begins and happens with our own connection to Jesus. The goal of Jesus’s presence in us is to CREATE MORE FRUIT. Do you see the heart of Jesus’s work in you? It’s MORE. Want MORE? Self-Control

November 10, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

APPLES take time outs. * Before they produce fruit, they have to chill. Literally. * Chill: cold, quiet, anonymous, dark, “unproductive.” * Necessary for the health and maturity of the tree and fruit. * If the tree during the chill is exposed to warmth too soon, the tree becomes susceptible to disease, and / or poor fruit. * Be aware of being exposed to things too soon. We need the “chill” too. We need the same time out in order to be our best sometimes. The self-controlled person has the wherewithal to say this is my limit and I am not going any further.
