Part 1

November 5, 2023
11:00am - 3:00pm

All are invited (children, youth, families, and adults) for a lunch and training with the Florida United Methodist Fresh Expressions training team. This is a series of trainings to equip you to find God in our community and meet him there. You don't have to know anything about Fresh Expressions to join. -------- The Imagine Lab is a series of events, hosted by Fresh Expressions UM. The purpose of this training workshop day is to equip churches to reach new people, in new places and in new ways. THE PURPOSE The workshop helps people envision a distinctly Wesleyan Spirit-led movement of new Christian communities that serve the present age. Through exploring Biblical frameworks, early Methodism, as well as current stories, and methodologies of the Fresh Expressions movement, teams will be prepared to cultivate inclusive, accessible, transformative, and connectional forms of church. KEY CONCEPTS OF THE IMAGINE LAB Along with teaching and interactive exercises, participants will learn about real stories of everyday people of God reaching their communities. The training is practical, exploring simple and creative ways churches can connect with new people. There is a strong emphasis on how traditional established churches and new expressions can work together. ●The compassion of Jesus at the heart of Fresh Expressions ●The vision for a blended ecology ●The definition of a Fresh Expression of church ●Key shifts of post-Christendom ●The opportunities for incarnational mission among needs, networks, and neighborhoods ●The “loving first” fresh expression journey ●Introduction to the roles of adventurer, advocate, and authorizer STRUCTURE ●Lead trainer Jessica Tayor, trained by Michael Beck ●Four sessions, interactive exercises, stories, and Q & A
