Join the Kingstowne Communion, Springfield United Methodist Church, and Provision Church for a collaborative, pay-what-you-can, 4-course dinner, and immersive Maundy Thursday worship experience. The word "maundy," meaning "command" or "mandate," is often used in reference to the holy Thursday before Easter when Jesus gave his greatest commands including the institution of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) and the call to humble ourselves and serve. ___ ___ ___ MENU: Course I | Salad Spring greens with shaved carrot, orange scented walnuts, herbed chèvre, and honey vinaigrette Course II | Soup Creamy spinach soup with dill and sourdough crouton Course III | Entree Red wine braised short ribs, carrot puree, spring pea sauce, and roasted asparagus Course IV | Dessert Cardamom and orange strawberry shortcake with honeyed Chantilly cream Notes: - Children are encouraged to participate in the meal, too. - Gluten, nut, and dairy-free options must be reserved in advance. ___ ___ ___ COST: This is a pay-what-you-can meal. Truly, you can pay whatever you can. However, if you are person with means to pay more, consider paying enough to cover part or all of the meal of another. For reference, the cost of each meal is roughly $15 per person. Any proceeds received above and beyond the cost of the food will go straight toward the work of Provision Kitchen, a new culinary job skills training program for individuals experiencing generational poverty in the Greater Alexandria area.
