On Friday March 10th, 2023, Lori Gates, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 70 after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer's Lori was born on August 12th, 1952 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Warren & Marjorie Jimmerson. Lori married Douglas Gates on July 22, 1972 and moved to Denver where they raised two sons, Bryan and Brent. Lori had a passion for her family, friends and missions. Lori spent many hours leading and attending bible studies, meeting with friends and offering prayer for anyone. Doug and Lori took their family to Africa in 1985 to build a house on a medical mission in Zaire, Lori was the schoolteacher for Brent and 2 other young missionary kids. Doug and Lori opened their home to families and individuals that were passing thru or had a short-term need. She also made numerous trips to Kenya and Uganda with How 101. Lori loved to host get togethers for friends, holidays with family and grandkids were her favorite. Lori retired from United Airlines in 2005 to "be a full-time grandma". For the last few years Doug and Lori made Sun City, AZ their winter home. Lori was preceded in death by her father Warren, her mother Marjorie, and brother, Baby Thomas. She is survived by her husband Doug, children Bryan, Brent (Kim), grand children Blair, Natalee, Rachel and brother Steve (Susan) and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday April 19th, 2023 at 1pm at Colorado Community Church, Aurora, CO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to How 101 at www.how101.org Burial will be Thursday April 27th, 2023 at 12pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
